Kelly Barnett, Senior Pastor: 

A native of Magee, Mississippi and graduate of Mississippi College in Clinton, Dr. Barnett earned the Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  He also earned a Master of Education and Doctor of Philosophy in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Louisiana, Monroe. Since 1983, Kelly has been involved in church ministry in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.  Kelly served as faculty member at Texas A&M University-Central Texas in Killeen, Texas where he taught Marriage and Family Therapy before coming to TWP.  Kelly is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist/Supervisor.  He served the military for 40 years retiring after 25 years as a chaplain (Colonel) in the United States Army.  Kelly and his wife, Coletti, have been married since 1982 and have two children, Kyle and Katelyn, son-in-law Paul Michael, and grandchildren, Luke and Ellie.


Ken Sanders, Executive Pastor:


Ken was born in Petoskey, Michigan. His father built hospitals, so his family moved often. His family moved to Illinois when he was in junior high where he finished high school, met his wife and attended college.


Ken graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, with a BS in Graphic Art, and returned for graduate work in Computer Science. In 1981, he moved to the Houston area and worked as a computer programmer in a large bank in downtown Houston, followed by seven years at Exxon Chemical Company. During that time, God began to draw Ken toward the mission field. In 1988, he and his wife joined Wycliffe Bible Translators. He received an MA in Linguistics (Bible translation) in 1990 from the University of Texas at Arlington. After raising support, they moved to Quebec for French study, then to the Republic of Congo until civil war forced them home in 1997.


Through a series of God-ordained events, Ken was invited to Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1999, to work at Broadway Christian Church, where an official Wycliffe Regional Accounting Office had been established. He worked as the Regional Accounting Manager, remotely handling the accounting for seven Branches of Wycliffe in French-speaking Africa. At the same time, he served the church as the Minister of Administration. At the end of 2011, he and Nancy took early retirement from Wycliffe after serving for 23 years.


Ken and his wife, Nancy, have five children and five grandchildren. In August they will celebrate their 40th anniversary.


Ken is an avid cyclist and has ridden across eighteen states, including two cross-country trips from San Francisco, California to Yorktown, Virginia, and from St. Augustine Florida to Sault Ste. Marie.



Allen Christopherson, Associate Pastor:
Allen was born in Annapolis, Maryland, but grew up and spent most of his life in the Dallas/Fort Worth Texas area. He graduated from Amberton University in Garland, Texas and earned a Masters of Christian Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Allen has served in the ministry of the local church for more than 20 years in both Texas and Kansas, with the last six years in Fort Worth, Texas. He has held several elected posts in the community and has spent a significant part of his ministry career helping to partner the church with the local community. He and his wife, Becky, have been married since 1989 and have 1 son, William.  Allen’s favorite book of the Bible is John and his favorite passage is Acts 2:42-47.  He avid supporter of the Longhorns and enjoys spending time outside and participating in or officiating just about every sport. 
Jim Clayman, Minister of Music:
Jim has returned to Georgetown after serving 9 years in Mineral Wells.  Previously Jim lived in Georgetown for 24 years.  He was the Music Minister at First Baptist Church for 20 years and also taught choir at the high school and handbells at Southwestern University.  Jim served churches in Winnsboro and Dallas.  He is married to Kay, and they have two children – Jeremy, a business manager for Lockheed, and Christopher, a missionary in New York City.  Jim & Kay have five grandchildren.  Jim attended Dallas Baptist College (BS in Music Education) and North Texas State University (MME).  Jim is an outdoorsman and on his day off he can often be found hiking at the lake or playing tennis.
Paul Newberry, Assoc. Minister of Music:
Paul is the newest member of our pastoral staff, having been born and raised in Dallas, Texas.  Prior to coming to TWP in August 2016, he and his wife, Christy, ministered for over 35 years in full-time music evangelism, averaging 40 weeks a year traveling on the road.  During that time, they sang in over 1000 churches, leading worship in revivals, concerts, and Bible conferences, as well as senior adult rallies, youth and children's camps during the summer.  Paul and Christy have also participated in mission work in Canada, Ohio, New Mexico, Montana, Colorado, New York, Massachusetts, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.  In addition to this, they have ministered in Brazil, South America, as well as the countries of Ukraine and Crimea in eastern Europe.  Paul holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Wayland University in Plainview, Texas, as well as a Master of Music degree from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas.  On his days off, he likes to play golf or practice on his 5-string bluegrass banjo and acoustic guitar.  His life verse is Psalms 104:33, "I will sing to the Lord as long as I live.  I will praise my God to my last breath!" NLT
Janie PeakChurch Accountant/Office Manager:
Janie attended Georgetown High School and then graduated from Southwestern University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting.  After a combined 10 years of experience as an auditor, and in Accounting and Finance Departments, she started her own business and continued her career as sole proprietor and owner of Janie Peak, CPA.  In addition, she has served as her church's Director of Women's Ministries and on their Finance Committee and Board.  She has been married since 1989 to her high school sweetheart, David, and enjoys being involved in her three children's lives, Lauren, Lindsey, and Doug. She loves spending time with extended family and friends and enjoys traveling.  Her favorite destination is the beach!
Kay Merritt, Alternate Financial Assistant:
Kay holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration with minors in Accounting and Management.  She spent the majority of her life working in Administration, Personnel or Accounting in various industries.  Kay is a retired First Sergeant from the U.S. Army with 21 years of combined active and reserve service.  Ron and Kay have been married over 24 years and have a shared family with five (5) children, eight (8) grandchildren, and six (6) great-grandchildren.  Kay's father was also in the military, so she has lived extensively in international locations.
Debra Sirois, Organist 

Debra has been  involved in accompanying multiple Christian denomination churches with piano and organ church music since 1963 at the age of 8.  She has had opportunities to play some of the world’s largest and notable pipe organs in the United States, Austria, England, and India.   She has studied classical piano and organ music and accompanied for choral organizations, opera, musical theatre, orchestral, and chamber music. Debra’s husband, Mark, is also a musician.  Debra composes, arranges, and records music in their home studio.  Debra has 2 sons: Justin, who is the Deputy Director at the Midland International Airport and Josh, who is a sound designer for Broadway musicals.  She has 3 grandsons.



Lyn Lee, Pianist 
A native Texan, Lyn and her husband, Perry, moved to Sun City in 2009, from Nederland, Texas after both retiring.   She has been involved in church music since 1963, serving in a wide range of accompanying.  She has played for pre-school, children, youth, adult, and senior adult choirs in the church, and numerous Sunday School departments as well as church organist from 1985 to 2005.  She also accompanied the middle school and high school choirs in Nederland, Texas.  In the late 1980s, she was hired as a teacher’s aide and also played for the elementary school choir.  Southern gospel music is one of her favorites, having accompanied several church quartets over the years.  Perry and Lyn have 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren who live in Nederland.  She has been TWP pianist since July 2010. 

Lori Seidel, Ministry Coordinator


Lori Seidel joined our staff on October 31, 2016.  She was born in San Angelo, Texas.  Since her dad was in the Air Force, she lived in England and Taiwan for more than seven years as a child before returning to Texas.  Lori holds an Associate of Arts degree in Psychology and has over 20 years’ experience in various administrative roles, with concentrated knowledge in many types of computer software programs, including Microsoft and Apple.  She particularly enjoys organizing and improving the efficiency of processes. Her mother, sister, three grown children and five grandchildren live in the area, keeping her very busy during her time away from The Worship Place. One of her favorite Bible verses is Matthew 6:33, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (NIV)


Karen Quillen, Receptionist, Member Coordinator
Born and raised in Southern California, Karen and her husband, Dennis, have loved living in Sun City since 2009. Karen holds a bachelors and masters in business administration and worked in the insurance and banking industries prior to teaching at business classes at Ramona High School in Ramona, California. She retired in 2009 after 24 years in the classroom. Karen & Dennis are proud of their two sons, Erik, earning his EdD and Ethan, who completed is PhD in Religious Studies at New College, University of Edinburgh, Scotland. Erik has two wonderful children, Jadon and Ellie, in California and Karen and Dennis love being grandparents. She enjoys traveling, working outdoors, music and water sports.

Rachelle Huber, Communications Coordinator


Rachelle was born in Québec, Canada and grew up in a small French-Canadian town in the Laurentides, northwest of Montréal. Her family life, church life and schooling were all in French.  To this day, praying and counting are still thought-out in French.  Rachelle found her way to the United States over 40 years ago. Shortly after arriving in the United States, she was stationed with the Canadian Consulate in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  In 1980, Rachelle became a naturalized citizen, logistically a Minnesotan.  Her career involved working with international executives. She specialized in Administration, Facility and Office Management as well as Human Resources.  Now fluent in French and English, her continuing career path, led to Honeywell and Mall of America to name a few.  Rachelle was part of the original team involved in opening 'Mall of America'.  Rachelle and her husband, Brad, moved to Sun City in 2014 escaping a record setting cold winter in Minnesota.  Their interests include golf, music, reading and auto racing.


Spencer Najera, Media Coordinator


A native Texan, Spencer Najera was born in El Paso, but spent most of his time growing up and going to school in the Austin and surrounding areas. He is currently finishing his associates degree from ACC in Music, Business, Performance & Technology and is focused on working towards his Bachelor’s and eventual Master’s degree in music business.  
Prior to coming to The Worship Place, he was a freelance audio engineer in Austin and spent most of his time either working shows or trying to find the next best thing in the music scene. His passions include photography and traveling and enjoys a good game of football every now and then. He is blessed to be working at the Worship Place with its wonderful staff and loving family.


 Frank Sanmiguel, Facilities Coodinator

Frank was born in Taylor and grew up as the oldest son with many responsibilities. He worked as a painter in Houston before returning to Taylor to work as a router operator.  In 1994, he joined the staff at Southwestern University as a building attendant, and after 20 years, he retired from the University in November 2014.  He enjoys bike riding, reading books, fishing, and spending time with family.  He feels very blessed to have the opportunity to work at The Worship Place.
